What you would be responsible for producing or targets that need to be met.

Required skills and knowledge.

Who you would work with and or for.

Also contrast the working conditions between being employed and working as a freelancer. i.e tax, sick pay, holidays etc..

Unit Assessment Guide

Outcome 1

Explain the background and concept of the Creative Industries sector in the UK.

Knowledge and/or skills

  • Principal constituent elements of the sector
  • History and development of the Creative Industries
  • Economic and cultural importance of the Creative Industries
  • Synergy within the sector

Evidence requirements

Candidates will need evidence to demonstrate that they can explain the background and concept of the Creative Industries sector in the UK.

The evidence should be presented in the form of either a 300 word report or an oral/audio visual presentation (3 minutes) which accurately defines the Creative Industries in the UK explaining how the sector has developed. Candidates will identify the main vocational areas within the Creative Industries and give examples of how such areas interface with each other and quantify the effects of the Creative Industries on the UK economy.

Outcome 2

Identify the roles and opportunities available within an elected vocational area of the Creative Industries sector.

Knowledge and/or skills

  • Roles, jobs and self-employment opportunities
  • Responsibilities as an employee
  • Responsibilities as a self-employed practitioner

Evidence requirements

Candidates will need evidence to demonstrate their skills and/or knowledge by showing that they can describe ways of working within an elected vocational area of the Creative Industries. The evidence should describe, in a creative manner, through either a 300 word report or an oral/audio visual presentation (3 minutes), roles, jobs and self-employment opportunities available within an elected vocational area and analyse the range of work and responsibilities as an employee and as a self-employed practitioner.

Identify the issues and support mechanisms that influence an elected vocational area within the Creative Industries sector

Knowledge and/or skils

  • Impact of technology and technical developments
  • Legal and statutory controls
  • Health and Safety issues
  • Business and financial support organisations
  • Industry and professional associations

Evidence requirements

Candidates will need evidence to demonstrate their knowledge and/or skills by showing that they can: describe the issues and support mechanisms that affect an elected vocational area within the Creative Industries sector. Candidates will compile either an 300 word report or an oral/audio visual presentation (3 minutes) that describes and evaluates the impact of technology and technical developments and provide reference to pertinent legal constraints and statutory controls. Examples of pertinent health and safety issues, relevant support organisations and associations and the support role provided by financial organisations and professional associations will be explained also.
